Request Anonymous Guidance

There are several trusted organizations that allow veterans to seek help confidentially, and in some cases completely anonymously, depending on the service.

1. Veterans Crisis Line (Confidential)

This is the best-known confidential resource for veterans experiencing emotional distress, suicidal thoughts, or simply needing someone to talk to.

  • Call: 988, then press 1
  • Text: 838255
  • Online chat available
  • Available 24/7
  • You do not have to be enrolled in VA health care.
  • You only share as much information as you want.
2. VA Inspector General (Completely Anonymous Option)

If a veteran wants to report:

  • VA fraud
  • Abuse
  • Waste
  • Misconduct
  • Retaliation

The VA Office of Inspector General provides three choices:

  • Identified complaint
  • Confidential complaint
  • Anonymous complaint

Anonymous means they will not know your name, although it may limit their ability to investigate or follow up.

3. Vet Centers (Confidential Counseling)

Vet Centers provide:

  • PTSD counseling
  • Readjustment counseling
  • Military sexual trauma support
  • Family counseling
  • Bereavement counseling

These services are confidential and separate from many standard VA medical records. Veterans can often begin by calling before providing detailed personal information.

4. National Call Center for Homeless Veterans

Veterans facing housing instability can receive confidential assistance.

  • Housing
  • Emergency shelter
  • Financial assistance referrals
  • Local resources
  • Available 24/7.
5. Military OneSource

Although primarily for active-duty service members and eligible family members, many transitioning veterans can use:

  • Confidential counseling
  • Financial counseling
  • Legal consultations
  • Peer support

Thank you for reaching out. We’ll review your anonymous guidance request and do our best to provide helpful information, resources, or next steps.

If you are experiencing an immediate crisis or emergency, please call or text 988 then press 1 for immediate confidential support.
